The Lizard and The Goal – Part II

This lizard definitely was uncertain and didn’t seem very confident as he finally began to move forward toward his destination. Do you ever start your journey scared or do you start thinking and focusing on all that could possibly go wrong? Do you think this train of thought might help or hinder your reaching your final destination?

After some time, Mr. Lizard became comfortable enough to start to move a little more freely, after having stood absolutely still for about 15 minutes and having made zero progress. Lizard starts his journey with a sprint as he moves forward in the direction of his destination.
How often do we start off all psyched and are completely focused on our goal and then…

Then it happens! Something catches his attention and he freezes. In a moment of indecision he looks to retreat and then scrambles back to where he started. Have you ever had a moment of indecision or fear which paralyzes you, bringing with it the doubt and uncertainty of whether my decision was right and maybe cause you to stop or to retreat back to where we started – having made zero gain!

Lizard now freezes in place and waits again until conditions are right to restart on his journey. You have to give him credit for not giving up! This time he gets about a foot from his starting point and freezes in place. A person is walking by. As the person approaches, he high tails it in another direction, a direction opposite of his destination. Perhaps, one of many possible distractions in life? Do you ever get distracted from what you are doing and does that distraction ever take you off course or take you away from making progress toward achieving your destination or goal?

And yes, there are obstacles that do get in our way and sometimes these obstacles, whether actually there or just in our heads, cause us to give up and look for another opportunity or perhaps an easier journey, then another and another – never reaching our final destination in any of them! We start and we start and yet we never finish? And we always with a good reason! Have you even seen this happen to someone? Maybe someone closer to you then you are willing to admit?

Well let’s find out in the last post of The Lizard and the Goal!!
